It’s just a quick one from me this week, as my son and I are escaping from the farm and heading off on holiday. Vives les vacances!
One of the best things we have invested in since moving to the farm is a night-vision camera. Sure, we could have saved that money for things like filling the holes in the walls, or installing a proper septic tank – but this was so much more fun.
Every night, we put the camera in a different place on the farm and so far we have captured deer (so fast, surprisingly silent), coypu (very cute considering they are technically rodents), hedgehogs (exactly the stereotype portrayed in the absolutely traumatic Animals of Farthing Wood), wild boar (love the way they move, but wouldn’t want to meet one on a dark night), and owls (my personal fave). Actually, I’m pretty sure we’ve caught other animals on camera too. It’s wonderful to know we are not alone. I think this is what we meant when we said we wanted to live in nature.
I will write more next week about the family of coypu currently occupying our garage but, for now, here are a couple of videos to enjoy. Happy holidays!
